This area offers some of the best mule deer hunting Montana has with both mule deer and whitetail deer in the area, it is also one of the few areas in the west where wolves have not had a devastating effect on the deer herd. The deer genetics are very good and we are able to harvest some bucks in the 160 to 190 class every year. Most of our capable hunters will have an opportunity at a good Mature buck.
On your Montana Mule Deer hunt you can expect to see 20-30 mule deer a day under normal weather conditions. The rut peaks about November 10 and lasts through the season. Guide/Hunter Ratio: All mule deer hunts are guided on a 2 or 3 on 1 basis unless special arrangements are made prior to your hunt. Check out the accommodations page to view the camp.
These mule deer hunts can be very demanding and good physical condition will be in your best interest if you want to harvest an older mature mule deer buck. The old days of big mule deer bucks standing by the road have long since passed.
We recommend a good modern bolt action rifle in a flat shooting caliber such as a 25-06, .270 or 30-06 for these open country mule deer hunts. We recommend a top quality scope such as a Zeiss or Burris. We also recommend that all rifles be sighted in to shoot 3 inches high at 100 yards and that you be able to shoot a 2 inch group at 100 yards with your rifle. Long range shooters are welcome in our camp providing they posses the skills and equipment to make long range shots. We have a 100 and 400 yard target range at the cabin.
