Montana Mule Deer Hunting Guide & Outfitter Our Montana Mule deer hunts are conducted on the famous Montana Missouri River Breaks in hunting districts 621 and 622. The hunting area includes the Missouri Breaks National Monument area as well as the Cow Creek and Antelope Creek Wilderness areas.

This area offers some of the best deer hunting Montana has to offer with both mule deer and whitetail deer in the area, it is also one of the few areas in the west where wolves have not had a devastating effect on the deer herd. There are NO wolves in our deer hunting area. The deer genetics are very good and we seem to be able to harvest a couple bucks in the 160 to 180 class every year. Most of our hunters will have an opportunity at a 120 to 140 class buck.
The Hunt, Land and Weapons
The Hunt: On your Montana Mule Deer hunt you can expect to see 20-30 deer a day under normal weather conditions. Trophy mule deer hunting is tough enough with a rifle, but if you would like the challenge of taking a Missouri River Break monster muley with archery equipment, you are more than welcome. Being that these archery hunts are so difficult because of the open terrain, we can only guarantee that you will see a lot of deer. The rut starts to get hot and heavy around November 10 and lasts through the season. Guide/Hunter Ratio: All mule deer hunts are guided on a 2 on 1 basis.
Terrain & Land: These deer hunts can be very demanding and good physical condition will be in your best interest if you want to harvest an older mature buck. The old days of big bucks standing by the road have long since passed.
Rifle Selection: We recommend a good modern bolt action rifle in a flat shooting caliber such as a 25-06 for these open country hunts. We recommend a top quality scope such as a Zeiss or Leopold's Mark II or III line. We also recommend that all rifles be sighted in to shoot 3 inches high at 100 yards and that you be able to shoot a 2 inch group at 100 yards with your rifle. Long range shooters are welcome in our camp providing they posses the skills and equipment to make long range shots. We have a 100,200 and 400 yard range at the cabin.
